Affiliate Tracking System

How Are Affiliate Links Tracked?

Affiliate links are the lifeblood of tracking the efforts of our dedicated affiliates.

Here’s a concise breakdown of the process:

1. Affiliates promote our products by sharing a unique referral URL. This URL typically takes the form of:

https://alexfordexample.com/?ref=123

2. When a potential customer clicks on this affiliate link and enters our sales funnel, their browser stores the affiliate’s unique ID (e.g. 123) in a cookie. This tracking cookie has a lifespan of 90 days.

3. If the customer purchases during this 90-day window, the affiliate whose link was first clicked receives the commission.

How Are Customers Attributed?

We use a first-click attribution model to reward the affiliate who originally referred the customer.

Here’s how it works:

  • If a customer clicks your referral link first, a 90-day tracking cookie is stored in their browser.
  • Even if they later click other affiliate links, you will still earn the commission—as long as they make a purchase within the 90-day window and haven’t cleared their cookies or used a different browser or device.

This model rewards affiliates who are proactive in introducing people to our ecosystem.

Is the Affiliate Tracked Across All Pages?

Yes! Once a customer clicks your affiliate link, the ID stored in their cookie tracks their activity across every page and funnel within the Alex Ford ecosystem—for as long as the cookie remains active.

How Can I Maximize My Tracking Window?

To keep your referrals active and extend tracking coverage:

  • Follow up consistently via email marketing
  • Continue posting valuable content
  • Re-engage through your affiliate link—refreshing the cookie and starting a new 90-day period.

These practices can help increase conversions and protect your referrals.

What Happens After a Customer Buys?

When a customer makes a purchase, their email address is permanently tagged to the referring affiliate. If that customer makes additional purchases in the future, the original affiliate will receive the commission—regardless of cookie expiration, browser changes, or device switches.

This email-based tracking ensures affiliates are credited for all future eligible purchases made by their referred customers, even after cookies have expired.
